La aproape 24 de ore de la momentul percheziţiei şi ulterior reţinerii de la vila din Pipera, finanţatorul Stelei, Gigi Becali, a primit mandat de arestare pentru 29 de zile. Alături de el au mai fost arestate alte patru persoane, printre care şi Cătălin Zmărăndescu.
Decizia judecătorilor a fost luată undeva în jurul orei 06.00 dimineaţa, după o noapte cu scântei la Judecătoria Sector 1. Cei arestaţi sunt acuzaţi de sechestrare de persoane.
Decizia instanţei a venit după mai bine de şase ore de audieri şi deliberări. Imediat după pronunţare, Becali împreună cu ceilalţi patru inculpaţi au fost duşi înapoi la sediul Direcţiei Cercetări Penale.
Interceptările telefonice aduse ca probe de procurori, în care apare Becali, nu numai că nu-l incriminează, dar îl exclud din orice implicare în acest caz, susţine apărătorul lui.
Probele depuse la dosar demonstrează doar că hoţii care i-au furat maşina lui Becali au vrut să-l şantajeze. Suma pretinsă era de 50.000 de euro.
Alături de Gigi Becali şi Cătălin Zmărăndescu au mai fost arestaţi Ştefan Dediu, Nicolae Dumitraşcu şi Dumitru Beciu. În cazul lui Marius Petrinel Geavela, instanţa a decis să nu ia măsura arestării preventive, interzicându-i să părăsească ţara.
Avocaţii lui Gigi Becali au anunţat că vor face recurs.
Victor Becali, vărul lui Gigi Becali, a declarat că “decizia este aberantă.”
Tot cazul a fost construit de procurori pe furtul maşinii omului de afaceri, în ianuarie. Atunci Becali a declarat că şi-a recuperat maşina în mai puţin de o oră. Acum, e acuzat că i-a reţinut şi sechestrat pe hoţii care i-au furat maşina, hoţi care sunt liberi!.
Adevăratul motiv al acestui caz încropit peste noapte de procurori pare să fie atacul lui Gigi Becali la adresa preşedintelui Traian Băsescu şi a omului de afaceri Puiu Popoviciu.
